Last night was the premier for ‘How To Steal 2 Million’, written and directed by Charlie Vundla. An imaginative South African story, with authentic SA lingo (not that weird language in Tsotsi) and a great cast. Big names. Menzi Ngubane, Terry Pheto, Rapulana Seiphemo, John Kani and Hlubi Mboya.
A big guest list. It seems like every film and entertainment industry person was there. The film was screened in all 5 movie theatres in Killarney Mall. Menzi couldn’t as he is currently in hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery. I did not see John Kani either but Terry, Rapulane and Hlubi show their support.
Admittedly I think the movie starts of a slow and there is lot of dialogue yet it still deserved the applause it received when the credits started rolling. This young Vundla is one to watch.

Director Akin Omotoso told us his new feature film premiers at the Toronto Film Festival on 12 September. The cast for ‘Man on Ground’ includes Hakeem Kae-Kazim and Fana Mokoena. Congratulations!

Judy Ditchfield (she played Stella on Isidingo) attended with her husband Paul Ditchfield. She will be starring in production being staged at Monte Casino called ‘Menopause the Musical’ this November.
