The B Boy/Girl Craft

The annual Heartz and Mindz battle was held at the Steinmetz College Prep HS, Chicago this past Saturday. It being the first timing I’ve attended a formally organised B Boy battle I was beyond stoked to get ringside seats. Also more amazing was seeing boys and men of all ages stretching, bouncing and contorting their bodies in unimaginable ways – the evolution is this dance is awe inspiring. During the four hours of the show we only saw one B Girl get down with her crew. I don’t know if we missed others in the preliminary rounds… I hope that's the case.

All profits from the evening went toward the American Heart Association. Additionally, history was made on this as this is the first partnership for the Heart Association with a B Boy/Hip Hop initiative - so kudos to the organizers.

So the first video above is the final 3 versus 3 B Boy Battle between the Freak Show (L) and Self X Flava (R). Self X took home the grand prize.

The second video above is the preliminery B Boy Battle between the Motion Wreck (?) - furthest from camera and Crooks - closest to camera. 

Then finally we have 1 versus 1 preliminery B Boy Battle between the Fantum and Raw Skeleton - I think it's it's obvious who's who here. Fantum won this round.
