After one paid the entry fee at The Bank on Friday, one was rewarded with a ‘Motswafrika’ CD for one's listening pleasure. My copy has been playing in the car radio since the weekend. Seven albums later I can say that I now truly have grasped the concept of Motswako as a genre; Track 9 14 (Past Time) was the missing piece of the puzzle. Hip Hop Pantsula is the original Motswako Dun Dada.
The birthday boy arrived after midnight and the party started to pick up. My only complaint is that the DJ’s took forever play some local music. Shout out to Metro FM’s Naves for coming correct and blazing the dance floor with some Kwaito and SA Hip Hop!
