I decided to do something with a bit of kulcha yesterday and ended up at the Market Theatre. I watched Greg Latter’s award winning play ‘Death of a Colonialist’. In a nutshell; it centres around the story of a Grahamstown family, headed by the self obsessed, unpredictable and often misunderstood patriarch, Harold Smith. A man whose passion blinds him to the obstacles being faced by his own family members and in a way these challenges touch on many aspects of South African society. Aspects that keep us apart but appear to, in the long run, draw us together. Jamie Bartlett gives sterling peformance. A must see!
