Musa Manzini |
In 2006 Musa was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor; he was
operated on. After a brief recovery period he went back to doing live
performances and shortly thereafter release his album ‘Simply Life’.
Another benign tumor was discovered in 2008 and again removed. Close
to three years later it seems other complications have arisen. During our
visit Musa complained of being in perpetual pain and constantly nauseous yet
he remain is good spirits.
‘Trust in Love’ is the Jazz artist’s latest offering due
for release in spring. The album credits has A-listers such as Clint Brink
(whom I think is a talented musician) who composed a couple of the songs on the
album, award-winning pianist Afrika Mkhize and percussionist Tlale Makhene as
well as Antonio Lyons (actor/poet). The singles from the album are receiving airplay on adult
contemporary stations.
Besides looking forward to the album release Musa says he spend his time studio composing mood music for film and television shows.

We at geezlowdown wish the prolific bassist speedy recovery!
Update: After a week in hospital and physio therapy sessions to test his vital signs and co-ordination, Musa was released on 1 September late afternoon. He's been prescribed medication and instructed to recuperate at home and avoid stress. He is due for a check mid September to asses if the medication is working or if he'll need to be operated on again.
Manzini i did not know about this. You can beat this. You are a blessed person.
