Sexy On A Monday

Clay Part I
‘I’m on a journey of self discovery as a man and as a human being.  I know what I’m about and I’m doing me with no compromise.’  It seems Clayton Misoya is determined to establish himself as more than just an on screen talent.  He’s been, amongst other shows, a guest presenter on Selimatunzi, on soaps like Muvhango as Zolani and on Rhythm City (love the show) as the greedy Siyabonga.
I met up with Clay (we are tight like that), at the new spot Cofi, in Rosebank to talk events (his other passion) and of course acting.  He is excited about his most recent role in one of the Sokhulu & Partners upcoming episodes. The excitement stems from his belief that this character allows his to break is typecast mould.  From the bit he told I’m prone to believing him but I won’t spoil his moment.

Sokhulu & Partners is the award winning legal drama series directed by Thabang Moleya and is returning to S1 on 3 March 2011.

Street Interactions

Earlier yesterday afternoon I took a brisk walk in my neighbourhood. The previous day’s walk was painless enough to convince me that I can do this often, on my own. Ha! Anyway I’m minding my own business and every now and then when I walk past someone the greetings are kept monosyllable brief. I’m not trying to give shout out to those walking across the street from me. Past experience has taught me not to.

15+ minutes into my walk this young man calls at me from across the road, as I’m about to turn the corner I decide to ignore him. As a result the interaction went something like this.
Man: Sisi.
Man: Sisi! Sisi!!
Me: (Briefly glanced at man before turning the corner)
Me: Voetsek!! Thla!! B***h you think you special?! Thla!!!

What’s messed up is I’m convinced the alternate scenario it would have gone like this:
Man: Sisi
Me: Hello
Man: Can I ask you something, does this road take me to the mall?
Me: Yes it does go straight.
Man: Thank you. Do you live around here?
Me: Yes.
Man: Can I come visit you some time? You can give me your number
Me: I have to go, I’ve got a man.
Me: You think you special? Voetsek!! Thla!! B***h!!!

Eish, it is not easy being a woman.

An Awesome Character

Jamie Bartlett is one of the most talented actors in the world.  Regardless of the platform; whether it is film, television or theatre he undoubtedly becomes the character. One of my daily pleasures is the etv soapy Rhythm City that I make a resolute effort to watch. I’m not ashamed to double up my viewing with the Saturday morning omnibus. Yes. Now that I have met this larger than life character the adoration goes deeper! Be on look out as he’ll be theatre scene soon and we’ll be the lead character in a highly anticipated feature film. I a signed fan card (deep down I'm group) and some seerious lowdown to follow.

This Beats Laying On The Couch

I attended the Sunbabes 2011 Gala Event at Turbine Hall on Friday evening. 12 young ladies competed for the title of being crowned Daily Sun Sunbabe 2011 and a R50k cash prize and trip to New York City. Unfortunately I was seated directly behind the judges and official photographers so my pictures of the actual show are pretty whack.
There was lots of celebrity spotting after the formalities. The very hot DJ Cleo got on the decks and he didn’t disappoint. Too many of my friends I hadn’t seen in a while suddenly appeared once the lights went so I didn’t get to fully appreciate his set and chose instead to catch up with my peeps. I made friends with an awesome with a naughty young man who became a great decoy and allowed me to take pictures of some of our celebs on the sly.

Living Our History

Ras Sipho & Friends

February is African History Month and I did not know this until I was invited to the Living Our History workshop at the Yeoville Recreation Centre this past Saturday. Lord knows I'm trying to change my ways but I arrived late and suspect I missed an informative talk titled 'Introduction on Afrikan Mathematics by Zulumathabo Zulu.  Especially as Mathematics (and Astrology) originated in Africa and this I know from prior reading.  My take out is us Africans need to our own rescue if we want to progress as a race.

I wonder

I'm curious about Gerald Garner’s  New Book , and more so about the unknown (at least to me) gems he’s found in Jozi... Might just get a copy.
